ABSTRACT
ОглавлениеThe recent COVID-19 crisis has brought new risks and difficulties for companies, which in many cases have led to significant drops in business figures and even the closure of many business activities. In this scenario of economic recession and uncertainty, innovation and entrepreneurship are undoubtedly a factor that can determine the countries’ capacity for recovery and economic growth.
In this chapter, following institutional theory, and aware of the importance of government policies and programs in promoting innovation and business creation, we study the mechanisms and actions that Spanish public institutions implement to support entrepreneurial activity and analyze how these actions influence new business’ creation. After the analysis, we can conclude that there are a large number of measures and institutional policies that can cause overlap and lack of coordination, and that the existence of government policies and programs condition entrepreneurial behavior in a positive way.
