RICE BATTER CAKES

Place in a bowl

One cup of cold boiled rice,

One egg,

One-half cup of milk,

Three-quarters cup of flour,

One teaspoon of salt,

Two teaspoons of baking powder,

One teaspoon of shortening,

One tablespoon of syrup.

Beat to mix and then bake on a hot griddle and serve with butter and sugar.
