There is another story about my grandfather.

Here it is necessary to mention my grandmother Dzhurdzha. She was a sister of my grandfather and mother of my mother Dara. My grandfather lived in the village of Velika, and grandmother married and lived to Levosha. This beautiful village was situated in Kosovo. It was placed between the mountains Voluyka and Paklina, over the monastery Patriarshiya’s Oven[12] and was a final rest place of travelers who through the Rugovsky gorge went to Montenegro.

There was such a custom to give a part of family property to the female, if her life was hard. As I have already spoke, for several years prior to war, when their parents were buried and made all last put ceremonies, the grandfather told to my grandmother:

“Listen, Dzhurdzha, we were left without parents, but for us they are as alive and healthy. Thanks God we will begin to live fraternally in peace and friendship and with love to each other till alive. My little sister, time of wars and death comes. Doors of this house are always open for you and it is your house too. I know, sister, that during life our parents didn’t divide this property between us. Now we were left without them, but we are brother and sister so I want to call the head of the village. I and you, in the presence of other witnesses, we will divide this property left to us by parents”.

“Well, brother, as you wish. Then call the head and two witnesses and we will make as you told”.

People came and grandfather explained to them that he called them and to be present at the section of a manor between him and his sister Dzhurdzha. However, grandmother told:

“Listen people. I know that there are enough sisters who take a part of economy from their brothers. For this purpose, my brother called you, but I want that all of you heard my words and couldn’t confute them. I don’t want to take fatherly inheritance a crumb from my brother”.

Nobody spoke a word, and she continued:

“My brother, you say that hard times are coming. If something happens to me, don’t let it happen, My God, then look after my daughters as at your children, and as for the earth, let the parent inheritance will bring you happiness”.

They drank on a shot of raki and all witnesses went home. Grandfather inherited everything. My grandmother returned to Kosovo and before the end of war she didn’t see her brother. After war life was heavy. There was neither bread, nor other products. My grandfather loaded two horses and will take to my grandmother two sacks of wheat and other grain. So many as it was possible he loaded on horses of air – dried meat, haricot and other products and he would deliver to his sister and son – in – law, and left everything to them. This saved the family because there was no food.
