In historic cities with a large number of visitors, events contribute to the overcrowding of public spaces and heritage assets. Therefore, the ease of pedestrian mobility in this urban area plays a key role in the satisfaction and experience of visitors. This research explores the perceptions of tourists in relation to the possibility of walking in the streets of the city centre of Oaxaca, Mexico, during the celebration of the Guelaguetza festival. A mixed methodology was applied, based on the direct observation of tourists who walk through the streets of central Oaxaca and the application of a questionnaire. The results showed differences according to the visitors’ background and allowed to suggest some urban improvements to increase visitor satisfaction.
