Curved motions

Оглавление

Our hands naturally move around the pivot point our wrists provide. If you are making curved lines or marks, it is easier to work with the natural movement of your wrist than against it. To assist with this, the easiest thing to do is to turn the wooden surface as needed to ensure your hand’s movements flows with the curve instead of away from it. You do not need to work with the piece of wood in one position “the right way up” in front of you from start to finish. I often turn my work upside down, on its edge and back again hundreds of times during a session. The main thing to consider is that you can adjust whatever you need to in order to get the best mark and the best conditions to work in.

Your wrist is a natural pivot and can be used to make curves that follow this movement.
