Nib choice

Оглавление

The choice of nib will have an impact on the way you hold the pen in your hand. For example, if you are using a spoon point to softly shade an area, you may want to check that the bowl of the nib is touching the surface and you are holding the pen to enable this without twisting your hand. Turning the pen through 180° so the bowl is facing outward and upward will mean you can then use the same nib to create more defined lines as the edge of the bowl will now be in contact with the wooden surface. Depending on the nib you are using, you will need to adjust the way you hold the pyrography pen to get the best results. But always make sure you are comfortable!

Using the point of a shading tip is useful for drawing lines. Using the broader face brings more metal into contact with the wood and creates a shading effect.
