Chain

Оглавление

Almost all crochet will begin with a long chain of simple stitches that are used as the foundation for the rest of the work. These stitches are called “chain” stitches and the starting string is called the “foundation chain.”

Wrap the yarn around the hook, bringing it up from the back, over the hook, and taking it back to the back below the hook—this is called yarning over. Now gently pull this loop of yarn through the loop already on the hook. Continue wrapping the yarn over the hook and drawing new stitches through until you have the required number of chain stitches (Fig. 2). It is quite easy to count the stitches—along the chain there will be one neat “V” for each chain stitch.
