A simple variation of single crochet most often used for edging, reverse single crochet is sometimes called crab stitch because of its “backward” motion.

Working from left to right, insert hook in next stitch to right, draw the yarn around hook, and pull this loop through the stitches. Yarn over again and pull through both loops on hook (Fig. 5).
