This is one of the most common stitches you’ll run across in crochet patterns and is used often throughout this book. Because of its short height, single crochet creates a denser fabric than other stitches.

Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and draw up a loop (Fig. 4). Yarn over again and draw it through both loops on hook.
