9 a.m is nine in the morning, 9 p.m is nine in the evening: The meeting will begin in 15 minutes, at 4 o’clock. It should be over by 5 p.m.
In British English, the day is often written before the month: 23 October 2002. This is pronounced “The twenty-third of October 2002”. In short form, dates are written: day/month/year: 23/10/02. In American English the day is written after the month: December 10, 2001. This is pronounced “December (the) tenth 2001”. In short form, dates are written month/day/year: 12/10/01.
