To do this for yourself, you’re going to imagine your ideal user.

This is the person who, if you met them on the street and told them about your product, would absolutely buy it. As I mentioned before, it’s not “moms.” There is no single product in the world that every mom is desperate to buy. All of your users might be moms, but all moms are not necessarily your users. Read it again. It makes sense.

If you already have a product with real users, that’s great. For this exercise, try to describe who you think is actually buying your product. If you have some recent research, feel free to refer to it for this process, but don’t worry about getting these perfect immediately. They’re only provisional. You’ll validate whether you’re right later on. This is about getting everybody on the team to share a single vision of the user.
