A good collection should have a focus, says entrepreneur Mark Vanmoerkerke who hails from the Belgian seaside resort of Ostend. His collection currently includes around 500 works of mainly European and American Post-Conceptual Art—works by artists like Ed Ruscha, Maurizio Cattelan, or Christopher Wool, for example. Vanmoerkerke regularly invites established curators, gallerists, and artists to put together exhibitions from the collection. This way things remain exciting not only for him but also for visitors. Previous guest curators have included the likes of museum directors Nicolaus Schafhausen and Dirk Snauwaert, gallerist Leo König, or artist David Claerbout. The Belgian cult curator Jan Hoet was one of the first to be allowed to mix it up in the former airplane hangar and modern extension that houses the collection.
