THE ART OF SHARING
Оглавление270 Places of Encounter
With the first issue of the BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors in 2012, we laid the foundation for a publication whose goal is to make contemporary, privately owned art around the world accessible. In addition to institutional-caliber, private museums, which were captivated by the project from the very outset, the initiative has also inspired many collectors to open their private residences for the first time to an art-enthusiast audience. Thus, with each new edition of the BMW Art Guide the number of collections presented has grown along with the variety of content. The publication takes us to vibrant metropolises as well as tranquil provinces, making for a highly varied art experience. Even if the collectors and their personalities, interests, and motivations are just as diverse as their art, they are united in the belief that their own collections are best served when shared with others: art communicates, stimulates exchange, and provides space for many special encounters. Featuring 270 private collections, the BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors in its fifth edition has never been so multifaceted. We would therefore like to express our gratitude to all participating collections for their enthusiastic support of this project and their efforts to make such special places publicly accessible. In addition to our research, our partnership over the years has yielded many exciting conversations and portraits. An ongoing selection of these can be found at www.bmw-art-guide.com.
