A retrospective longitudinal study was performed on 27 CKD patients before starting dialysis. All patients were followed for more than 120 days from baseline to the initiation of dialysis. Measurements of biochemical and physical values, as well as LVMI evaluated by echocardiography, were performed twice, namely, at baseline and during follow-up at the initiation of dialysis period, from July 2011 to September 2014. All patients were divided into tertile groups based on average hemoglobin (Hb) (mean Hb levels) during the observation period. The study protocol was in conformity with the ethical guidelines of our institutions, and informed consent was obtained from all participants.
