All data were expressed as mean ± standard deviations. In this study, statistical analysis was performed with JMP 10 (SAS Institute, Cary, NC, USA). Student’s t test was used to analyze differences in average values between the unpaired groups. Student’s t test or Fisher’s exact test was used to perform univariate analysis. Stepwise linear regression analysis by using a forward-backward procedure was used to analyze variables with p values < 0.05 in univariate analysis. F value for entry or removal of candidate variables from the discriminant function was set at 4.0. Repeated analysis of variance was performed for comparisons of serial changes in clinical data and echocardiographic parameters. p < 0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance.
