The manuscripts comprising families ƒ1 and ƒ13 are usually cited only by their group sign. If they differ both from their own family and from , they may in special cases be cited individually (cf. Lk 11,25 ⸆, where 69 supports the reading of ƒ13 but with a different word order).

For ƒ1 there is a special rule: if the leading manuscript 1 differs from the other members of the family and also from , it is cited as 1; the sign ƒ1 is not used because the other members of the family agree with  (cf. Lk 24,53 ⸆).

There are no manuscripts in the category of frequently cited witnesses in the Gospels. Apart from the consistently cited witnesses only a few manuscripts are noted, if their variants are of text-historical interest.
