For the Latin version of the New Testament there are two groups of witnesses to be distinguished: the Old Latin versions which originated in the 2nd century, and the revision associated with the name of Jerome, which was made in the 4th/5th century on the basis of the Greek text, and which has been known since the late medieval period as the Vulgate.12

The citation of Old Latin witnesses in this edition is based on the following editions:
