He said: “What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse. I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you,” Matthew 11:21-22 NLT (see also Luke 10:13-14). The Lord calls both Tyre and Sidon (Zidon) wicked, yet stating that these cities would have repented of their sins at the demonstration of the power of God through the miracles that He did. People are drawn to signs and wonders, instead of an unshakable faith in God who judges the world of sin. Tyre, Zidon, and its leaders were warned, but their necks were stiff and their hearts hardened in defiance, therefore sealing their own fate.
