of the other Hebrew settlers in exile by the river Chebar. Not being able to fully describe the sound he heard in the throne room, the prophet continued; the wings of the Cherubim sounded like the eternal melody, resonating in words: “SHAMA;” which is the same salutation given when a court is called to order and the presiding Honorable Chief Justice name is announced. Suddenly there was a hush in heaven, a reverential silence filled the air; nothing moved; a pin drop could be heard as the wings of the living creatures made its final crescendo and came to rest at their sides in honor to the LORD God. Ezekiel looks on as a silhouette of the presiding Judge appears; THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
Verses 26-28
And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of His loins even upward, and from the appearance of His loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness roundabout. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
Awe struck, Ezekiel once again searches for the right words to describe the appearance of the throne room of God. In his mind’s eye he described it as resembling a precious stone and came to the conclusion that the awesome structure gleamed like sapphire. Sapphires are composed of colors that sparkle with great brilliance and clarity of an intense transparent deep blue with iridescences as clear as glass; they also display spectrums of yellow, and purple, green, pink and orange.
