mentions of these precious stones in the Bible used literally, figuratively, and also metaphorically to describe things associated with or created by God.

The book of Job speaks of the source from which sapphires are made, which is the tremendous heat of the earth’s crust. Because of this same fact we can truly say that the sapphire spoken of in the Word of God is created by intense heat. Fire is also associated with the presence of God, which is a picture of the covering of His unfailing mercy, justice, righteousness and covenant with mankind, (for further reading see Exodus 13:22; Numbers 9:16; 14:14; Deuteronomy 1:33; Nehemiah 9:19; Isaiah 4:5). Isaiah 21:19-20 concurs with John in the book of Revelation because the sapphire is seen as an important aspect of the twelve foundations of the wall of the New Jerusalem. Based on the symbolism of the sapphire stone the message being conveyed is a reminder to the world that the LORD sits on a throne which reminds Him of His love for mankind and those who draw near to Him will receive the covering of His mercy, justice, righteousness and grace. Whom the Lord has purified, He will find pleasure and delight. Therefore, like the throne of God, His people will also shine forth as the sapphire. Like Daniel, Ezekiel is now face to face with the awesome presence of the glory of Abba Father. He once more searches for words to describe the LORD’s glory which he likens to that of a rainbow. A fitting description, as the rainbow speaks of God’s covenant with all the descendants of Noah; Genesis 9:13-17 states: I do set My bow in the
