We see a radical change here; what Ezekiel saw written on both sides of the scroll was the judgment of God upon a rebellious people and the prescribed remedy for their restoration. As instructed, the prophet ingested and digested the scroll and it became as sweet as honey. Here is the unfolding of a picture of the future hope for Israel’s redemption. The prophet gained strength and confidence knowing that although Israel suffered much for their rebellion against Abba Father, the day would come when the LORD’S favor would once again be extended to them, which was also the hope of the foreigners who dwell among them and by faith, lived righteously before their God.

The book of Ezekiel being filled with idioms, metaphors, allegories, and typologies, paints a picture of the coming rule and reign of Yeshua Jesus the Messiah over all His people; these are the words of Yeshua in John 10:14-16: I am the good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd. We will see this concept clearer and in greater detail in volume two and three of the these writings, because embedded in the Hebrew and symbolic language of the book, are messages about Yeshua Jesus, Israel and the body of Christ, which are its signature features.

Ezekiel’s task was to meditate upon the Word of God, as Holy Spirit would be his Teacher and Interpreter of the great mysteries of the visions and encounters that he would experience. Ezekiel had to totally place his trust in God, because He was about to use him in such a way that many would ridicule him and deem him a lunatic. Without drawing any attention to his inadequacies, Ezekiel willing surrendered his agenda for a higher calling, because only then, would he be an effective prophet unto the LORD, and a man regarded as righteous among his brethren living in Babylon.
