Chapter 2
Verses 1-5
And He said unto me, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the Spirit entered into me when He spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard Him that spake unto me. And He said unto me, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me, even unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD GOD. And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
These verses are a continuation from Ezekiel 1:28. The prophet lays prostrate in the presence of God Almighty, too weak to stand upright on his own; the Helper Holy Spirit steps in yet again to strengthen him. Ezekiel is now officially commissioned as a prophet unto the children of Israel. Not only did they and their forefathers break the teachings and commandments of God, but they divorced themselves from Him. They were bold an unashamed of their apostasy yet a loving Father instead of removing Himself completely from among them, appoint a prophet to be His voice because of His covenant and this is a reflection of His lovingkindness to His beloved Israel. Psalm 135:4 applying the NKJV states: For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His special treasure. Ezekiel was encouraged by
