A procedure for isolation of pistachio leaf mesophyll protoplasts was reported by Chan et al. (2002). Protoplasts from cultivars ‘Red Aleppo’, ‘Kerman’ and ‘Peters’ gave rise to microcalluses, with ‘Red Aleppo’ having the highest yield. Plant regeneration from protoplasts was not reported.
