Somaclonal variation was described in micropropagated pistachio seedlings (Ozden-Tokatli et al., 2006) using RAPD primers. Later, Akdemir et al. (2016) demonstrated polymorphism in long-term micropropagated male ‘Atlı’ using RAPDs, ISSRs and AFLPs. Loss of genetic integrity was also obtained in micropropagated (for up to 12 months) mastic tree (P. lentiscus) using inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) markers which revealed variation in inter-retrotransposon regions (Kılınç et al., 2015).
