Bagging Out
ОглавлениеBagging out is a quick method that neatens the edges of a quilt in place of adding a binding.
1 | Lay the batting out on a flat surface. Lay the backing fabric on top of the batting, right side up, and then lay the quilt top, right side down, on top.
2 | Trim the backing fabric and the batting to the same size as the quilt top all around. Take care not to cut into the quilt top when doing this.
3 | Pin the layers together and then stitch around the edges, leaving an opening long enough to turn the quilt through (shown below).
4 | Trim the batting close to the seam line and then turn the quilt through so that the batting is in the center of the sandwich. Slip-stitch the opening closed.
5 | Baste with thread or safety pins ready for quilting as described in the following Basting section.
