The backing and batting should be slightly bigger all around than the quilt top.

1 | Lay out the backing fabric right side down, smooth it out, and stretch it taut. If possible, stick the edge at intervals with masking tape. Lay the batting on top of the backing and the quilt top on top of the batting with right side up.

2 | Pin the layers together, starting from the center and working out, keeping the fabrics smooth.
