3. HIGH PEAKS

Оглавление

Electricity from renewable energies can be quite variable. Electricity from wind power requires wind and the quantities of electricity produced vary with wind strength, similar to electricity produced from solar cells, which is impacted by the strength of the sun and factors such as cloud cover. If the wind is blowing and the sun is shining, a lot of electricity from such sources may be fed into, transported through and drained from the grid. This variability in power generation can lead to significant peaks of energy flowing into the grid and, on such occasions, the grid must have the capacity to absorb these flows otherwise wind and solar power plants will need to be temporarily shut down and substituted by other, fossil power plants.
