Good and evil

Оглавление

Taking into consideration the insights we have gained so far, we can state that good exists, but evil has a pseudo-existence. Evil is and remains impermanent; it is its own downfall. This is because the power of evil is (self-)destructive, not creative. The famous battle between good and evil takes place because evil is geared towards dichotomy and hostility. The greatest attribute of evil has always been its destructive power that aimed to reach its goal by attack and invasion. The source of violence, conflict and fighting has always been evil.

This poses an interesting question: why is evil self-destructive? It is self-destructive because it originated from separating and turning away from good (God) and so it keeps longing for that which is good. Therefore it keeps trying to destroy itself, to reach salvation and unity with that which is good. But unity and salvation cannot be achieved by force and (self-)punishment. In mediaeval times, many thought they could deliver their souls from evil by self-flagellation. The church called this “sublimation”. But how is a soul supposed to be liberated by violence, when violence, or rather, unkindness and the absence of love, put so much strain on the soul in the first place? People attempted to purify their souls by physical punishment, which was a ploy by the church to keep them frightened and compliant. Millions of people fell victim to these ploys and acts of violence perpetrated by a self-proclaimed Christianity and its church.

Most people who do something evil punish themselves by subconsciously holding the opinion that they do not deserve a wonderful, harmonious and happy life. In other words, they act in an evil way because they reject themselves. This is why we cannot get rid of evil by threat, punishment and judgement, but only by love and enlightenment. The more evil a person acts, the more he needs love and enlightenment. By far the most important reason for the commitment of innumerable criminal acts is hopelessness. Many people, especially young people, turn to crime because subconsciously they have lost all hope of ever being able to create a good life for themselves. Once they have crossed the invisible line into hopelessness, they regard themselves as hopeless and believe that there is no way back. A prime example for this is rape. Most rapists are men who have no hope of being loved by a woman. Subconsciously they are convinced that they are not worthy of a woman’s love. Add to this an inclination towards violence and criminal energy, and the inhibition threshold for rape is very low. Some men use sexual violence against women because they want to get even with them. They feel abused, exploited, rejected, unloved or neglected by women. Men like this have not learnt to correct or express themselves and so they become aggressive. They try to relieve their aggression by acts of violence. These acts of violence may be directed at women, empires, policemen, politicians or even fans of an opposing football club.

Every perpetrator is a victim and a puppet of evil and is in need of help and love!

If our attitude towards so-called evil people is one of hatred, violence and condemnation, we increase their potential for evil, like throwing oil on the fire. If we meet malicious people on their level, then what is the difference between them and us?

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone! Violent offenders, criminals, fraudsters and thieves are people who no longer believe that anyone would voluntarily give them anything good. They believe themselves not worthy of receiving good things as gifts, and so they acquire them by violence and trickery.

People who do bad and evil things do not need to be condemned and punished – they already do enough of that to themselves! They need love and, above all, they need peace in their hearts. The more peace a person carries in his heart, the kinder and gentler he becomes.

There are no evil people, just lost people who do evil deeds and require help. We live by the power of good, but evil lives through us! Lack of love is the only source of evil!
