While the mind is an instrument of coordination, reason is the means of establishing meaningful and harmonious order. While the mind utilizes this world and its principles, reason is governed by divine laws. It is an aid to the implementation of divine law in our day-to-day lives. It follows that reasonable people would treat others with love, gentleness, understanding, patience and kindness. They would use everything at their disposal to do the best for everyone. They would not act carelessly and inconsiderately, as the mood takes them, and certainly not egoistically or self-centredly, but with view to the communal and social good. Reasonable people are community-conscious and act with a sense of responsibility and consideration. We could also say: caring people are reasonable people, and vice versa.

Reason is a God-given tool for the application of divine intelligence in the human world. It helps us with the preservation and fulfilment of life in all its forms.
