The Lost Kitten (Потерявшийся котенок)
ОглавлениеOne sunny afternoon, Lucy and her little brother Max were playing outside when they heard a soft «meow.» They looked around, but they couldn’t see where the sound came from.
«Did you hear that?» Lucy asked Max.
«Yes, I think it came from behind the bush,» said Max, pointing to a small bush near the fence.
They slowly walked over and looked behind the bush. To their surprise, there was a tiny kitten, sitting all alone. The kitten had soft grey fur and big, sad eyes.
«Oh no! It’s a lost kitten!» Lucy said, crouching down to the kitten. «Where’s your mommy, little one?»
The kitten meowed softly and rubbed against Lucy’s hand. «I think it’s hungry and scared,» Lucy said.
«We can’t just leave it here,» Max said. «Let’s take it inside and make sure it’s okay.»
The children carefully picked up the kitten and brought it into the house. They gave it some food and water. The kitten ate the food quickly and drank all the water. «I think the kitten is happy now,» said Max, smiling.
Lucy looked around the house. «Maybe we can find the kitten’s owner. We can put up some signs in the neighborhood.»
They made a sign that said, «Lost Kitten! If you are the owner, please call us.» Lucy wrote her phone number on the sign, and they went outside to hang it on the neighborhood bulletin board.
The next day, they got a call. «Hello, is this Lucy?» a lady asked. «I think you have found my kitten!»
Lucy was so happy. «We’ve been taking care of her! We’re so glad you called.»
A few minutes later, a woman came to their house. She was so happy to see her kitten again. «Thank you so much for finding her and taking care of her!» she said.
The kitten meowed and ran to the woman, rubbing against her legs. «I’m so glad you’re home!» the woman said.
Lucy and Max smiled. «We’re happy to help,» said Max. «We love animals!»
The woman waved goodbye, holding her kitten. «Thank you again, kids!» she called. «You’re very kind!»
