Orangetheory studios offer 60-minute, trainer-led group workout classes of HIIT, blending strength, power, and endurance training. Treadmills, BOSU balls, rowing machines, and free weights are used in a circuit-style format in the class. As a participant, you’ll wear a heart-rate monitor with your heart rate displayed on screens during the workout, providing you with real-time feedback on your performance.

Orangetheory workouts are based on the physiological concept of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). This refers to a state in which the body continues to burn calories at an elevated rate for up to 36 hours after exercise. Orangetheory achieves this by motivating you to work for 12 to 20 minutes in target HR zones, at a rate of 84% or higher of your maximum heart rate, thereby inducing EPOC. The class is designed to burn 500 or more calories per session.

Orangetheory studio fees are on month-to-month plans, but you can’t use your own heart rate monitor—you must buy Orangetheory’s. Orangetheory provides upbeat, motivating group training in a structured environment at prices similar to personal group training.
