Verse 10
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
Ezekiel describes the living creature’s faces; the first was that of man, the second sets of faces were that of a lion on the right side, the third sets of faces were that of an ox [oxen] on the left side, and the fourth sets of faces had the appearance of an eagle. These living creatures are associated with the presence of God, as the glory of the LORD is enthroned upon them; 1 Chronicles 13:16. If the number four speaks of God’s creative works, then the number sixteen (4x4), refers to the completion of its perfection. Abba Father continues to unfold more about Himself and His relationship with His creation. The face of man was mentioned first, which is a picture of him as ruler through delegated authority by God (Genesis 1:26-28). The second set of faces was that of a young lion, which is a picture of man in Yeshua (1 Corinthians 3:16; Romans 6:3-11; 8:29; Ephesians 2:1-10). The third set of faces were that of an ox [oxen], which speaks of man as a bondservant (Acts 8:27-39; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 9:9-19). Lastly the fourth set of faces were that of an eagle; a picture of man as a watchman or prophet of the Lord, (Proverbs 23:5; 30:18, 19; Isaiah 40:31; Ephesians 1:15-23).
