the thought of one’s personal and continued relationship. It speaks of our “walk” which is a life driven by a divine purpose of connection and association with Abba Father who is greater than us.

The prophet observed that the lightening accompanying these living creatures was darting out of the fire itself. Ironically, lightening is the Hebrew word Baraq [1300], it conveys the idea of a sword that is flashing, which is symbolically speaking of the protective nature of the LORD. Psalm 121 applying the NKJV states: I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. These awesome creatures were the Cherubim that were created as worshipers and also protectors and their appearance is telling us a story about Abba Father and His relationship with mankind. Being in the presence of GOD, the Cherubim or living creatures as they are referred to here, carries His glory and Ezekiel describes it as being burning fire, lamps and lightening.

The living creatures are said to be in great motion, they “ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightening,” (vs.14). What the prophet was viewing was like that of a pantomime as another story is being unveiled by the movements of these creatures. The Hebrew Shuv [7725] is used here for “returned,” it is explained as the act of turning back, turning around as in coming back to Abba Father or being converted. Shuv conveys this thought in a figurative sense demonstrating man being reconciled with the GOD.
