Summary: Digitalisation is set to create, destroy and transform employment simultaneously. The effects of these changes will depend on multiple factors: complementarity or substitutability between work and machines; labour regulations, efficiency and flexibility of the labour market; occupational mobility of workers and reallocation between sectors; improvements in the level of qualification. This study analyzes the forecast of the aforementioned variables against our current reality and explores the ‘virtuality’ of various approaches which aid to the progressive transition to a new employment model which is generating the digital wave in which we are immersed.

Keywords: Labour markets; digitalisation; job creation and destruction; job migration.
